The snow recedes and gives way to rain...

Raindrops on moss

The waterlogged ground has delayed the planting of seeds, but it's a delight to see the blossom and early spring flowers doing their best to lift the spirits.

The Blackthorn blossom gives off the scent of almonds

Wood Anemones, Lungwort, crocuses and primroses have appeared and even the occasional butterfly has braved the early sunshine

Bees are visiting the snowdrops,

gathering pollen in the sacs on their hind legs...

The meadow is full of promise for the year ahead

and as I write, the first Swallow has returned!
